Do you remember where you were in 2003? I do. I was sitting in a class for adult students and we were discussing this new thing called social media.

Social media was shiny back then! It was something that had us ooo-aah-ing. Especially MySpace (yes, that MySpace). MySpace was growing by a baffling 200% at that time. As a website designer learning about social media, I loved it because we could create our own layouts with HTML and customize this new thing called social media to our liking.

Then Facebook hit and knocked MySpace out of the park with its idea of bringing more personal connections to the social media arena.

Then YouTube’s popularity increased and gave us the options to share our videos with the masses and our tribe.

Now there’s Instagram, Pinterest, Vimeo, Vine, Snapchat, Periscope … so many options to choose from.

Since 2004, I’ve learned, researched, and tested how to use social media for business and what gets people to respond to a product or service (hint: your message must start well before the hashtags).
